When you live on an island every special occasion is worthy of celebrating by the water – especially weddings. One advantage of living on Long Island is waterfront access in thirty minutes from practically every location. We can’t get enough of waterfront weddings and think they’re the perfect arrangement for celebrating love – no matter the season.
While the waterfront may evoke the idea of a beach wedding – this doesn’t always have to be the case (although we love a sunset wedding on the south shore). You can still celebrate on the water while not having a preppy and nautical themed beach wedding (unless of course that is what you wanted.) The waterfront harbors on the north shore may be better suited to your style as a couple.

There’s an appropriate way for every island couple to celebrate with a waterfront wedding, some that lean more beachy like a barefoot sunset ceremony and some that lean more classic with luxurious boats and harbor front views. There is no right answer, just what makes you happy as a couple.

We can’t talk about celebrating your wedding along the waterfront without talking about the photos. If you’re a nature lover, tying the knot outside will take your photos to the next level – especially if the nuptials take place during golden hour when the light is situated just right in the sky to give that stunning golden glow. Some optimal waterfront locations for photos are utilizing the beach grass, off the deck looking out at the view, and by the water as the sun sets. They’ll be stunning no matter what.
